What is your policy regarding disciplining athletes?

Answer: At Laws of Motion, we believe discipline should be fair, consistent, and constructive, helping athletes learn from their choices while always feeling supported and respected. To encourage a safe and positive training environment, we follow a simple three-strike rule when misbehavior occurs:

  1. First Strike – Gentle Reminder
The coach offers a calm, respectful warning, reminding the athlete of our expectations and why they matter for safety and teamwork.

  2. Second Strike – Clear Warning
The coach provides a second warning, making sure the athlete understands that repeated behavior may lead to a short break from activities.

  3. Third Strike – Reflective Time-Out
The athlete takes a 2-minute time-out. Before rejoining the class, they explain to their coach—in their own words—why they received the time-out and how they plan to adjust their behavior. This ensures accountability and learning in a supportive way.

Whenever a time-out is given, the coach will speak with the athlete’s parents after class.

This conversation is not about punishment, but about collaboration—working together to understand what happened and creating a plan to set the child up for success moving forward. By using this positive and consistent approach, we help athletes feel safe, respected, and empowered to make better choices in the future.
